Healing

The first 7 days

How long is the healing process?

The healing process happens over the course of the first 4 weeks after your appointment.

  • You will experience changes in the appearance of the brows as the skin completes a full healing cycle (30 days), which is the removal of old skin cells and the production of new cells.

  • Cell regeneration and cell repair will cause the pigment look darker some days and lighter or patchy other days. Once the healing cycle is nearing the end of 4 weeks, the final result will start to look a lot more prominent and take shape.

  • Every skin and person is different, many factors can determine the way the skin retains the pigments (holds onto it), so this is why the second appointment is always needed to ensure even results that last.

  • Lip tattoo is the same, however as the skin on your lips is non-keratinized, it is thinner and only takes 5 days to heal.

How do I look after them?

The first few days are the most critical, you need to let the skin heal properly to avoid any loss of pigment or scar tissue forming.

  • Keep the brows dry for 7 days, no water! Bacteria loves moist and warm environments, so to prevent infection, please keep dry.

  • Do not pick at the scabs before the skin has finished healing over and closing, this is what can damage the skin, or cause loss of pigment before it has had a chance to ‘settle’ in the skin.

  • Use the gel provided, twice a day, gently dabbing a small pea sized amount with a clean finger.

  • Wash your face using a flannel instead of running your face under the shower, to avoid the brows completely.

  • Be extremely careful when using products or makeup on the face, as you cannot get these on or into the brow area, it will cause infection.

  • Once the scabs have naturally flaked off, you will know the skin is closed/healed, and you can return to washing them and your face like normal.

  • Under no circumstance can you use sunbeds or sunbathe your face in the sun during the healing phase. The skin is sensitive and broken, intense heat will cause blisters and burn, and will ruin the retention completely. Once healed, always use SPF on your brows as sunlight can fade the pigment.
